The kids have swimming on Wednesdays and meatballs are my crowd pleaser. No bread crumbs or oil needed here… and in fact you’re going to be using your oven for this one. But don’t worry, there’s no compromise on flavor. So sit back and enjoy a bowl full of delish!

FOR THE MEATBALLS:

  • 1lb lean ground beef (or your choice of meat)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped fine
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley
  • Fresh Parmesan (for garnish)

FOR THE SAUCE:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 can crushed/chopped tomatoes (28 oz)
  • Himalayan salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and using your hands, knead it all together until combined.
  3. Use your hands and make 1-inch meatballs and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes or until no longer pink on the inside.
  5. In the meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a pan.
  6. Add the garlic and sauté until softened, about 2 minutes.
  7. Next add the crushed/chopped tomatoes along with the basil.
  8. Season with salt and pepper as per your taste.
  9. Cook on medium flame for about 20 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
  10. Add in the meatballs, simmer a little longer and enjoy!
